The Chemistry Set

The Chemistry Set is a place for thoughts and discussions relating to the pioneering entrepreneurs, scientists and the migrant workers who built the Chemical Industry in the North West of England, and whose legacy remains part of the region today. We are a small group of enthusiasts, and welcome any comments or contributions, especially photographic images. We aim to attribute all images and text and all links are open access, if we make any errors, please let us know by emailing chemistrysetnorthwest@gmail.com.

The images below have been taken from Wikipedia articles on each individual and the banner image was taken by one of us looking out from Spike Island across the River Mersey. The broken wreckage in the foreground is a "Mersey Flat", widely used to move materials around the shallow waters to service the industries.
